Documenting ‘Mechanics at Home’ with Poetry & Comics

November 20, 2014

We are delighted to announce that we are now the official documenters of the ‘Mechanics at Home,’ an Arts & Communities project in Burnley. We will be documenting the project using poetry and comics. We are both hugely excited by the challenge.

‘Mechanics At Home’ is a new 2 year project, funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government and Arts Council England. Burnley is one of 5 UK locations who were invited to apply for the funding, which is focussed on enabling and showcasing the best examples of how the arts can be used in communities to build stronger relationships, improve integration and improve lives.

Mechanics At Home takes inspiration from the history of the Mechanics Institute as a place of learning and creativity, a place where people came to meet, socialise and explore their interests outside of their working lives. Mechanics At Home will be based in the newly refurbished Front Room of the building.
