I joined other organisers to celebrate the Laydeez do Comics 5th birthday in London this week. The event took place in the brand new venue at the recently opened Foyles store in London. Before the meeting we had an opportunity to catch up with everyone and discuss future meetings and events.
Its always great to get to the London Laydeez meetings run by Nicola Streeten and Sarah Lightman. They both gave talks about recent work, as did Paula Knight, Anna Brewer and myself. Maureen Burdock, Comic Nurse and Maura McHugh were able to also give talks by various digital means from various places around the World !
I talked about the new Seeing Poetry book and our Arts Council Funding. It was great to meet so many people at the meeting and receive such a positive reaction to the book. Unfortunately I was not able to sell it at the event but it will be available online soon.
The whole event was captured in text and words by Simone Lia ! It was lovely to meet her and try out her brand new felt pens! You can read her blog on the Laydeez do Comics site. There are loads of great things about speaking at Laydeez but one is all the pictures from the bloggers. So this is me by Simone Lia no less!
